Filing a Discrimination or Harassment Report
As set forth in its Non-Discrimination and Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓƵ is committed to ensuring that its learning and working environments are free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.
An act based on an individual’s status as listed above may violate the Non-Discrimination and Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and warrant University discipline even if the act does not rise to the level of unlawful discrimination, retaliation, or harassment.
Who must report discrimination or harassment?
Any human resources staff, supervisor, including faculty supervisors, student supervisors, and volunteer supervisors, chair/director, or faculty member who becomes aware of information that would lead a reasonable person to believe that employee discrimination or harassment has occurred must notify the Office of Diversity & Inclusion or Human Resources promptly.Ìý Other members of the University community may file discrimination and harassment reports, but are not obligated to do so. Reports should be made as soon as practicable.Ìý
What happens to the report?
Human Resources keep reports private and secure.Ìý Information in reports is used to monitor potential threats to campus safety and to take steps to promote a safer environment.Ìý Reports are not formally investigated unless they indicate a pattern, predator, threats, violence, or weapons.ÌýÌýTo initiate an investigation, a person should file a formal complaint.
Instructions for filing a Report:
If a Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓƵ student, faculty or staff member, or visitor describes incidents that could be considered discrimination or harassment:
- Offer to listen and help. Say that you will report the incident to Human Resources, and explain the purpose and privacy of these reports.
