ýƵ honored staff members for exemplary work during a staff awards reception held Dec. 12 in Warch Campus Center.
President Laurie A. Carter and the Office of Human Resources presented multiple awards, led by the President’s Award of Excellence – Individual, which went to Juan Arguello, ýƵ’s second-year dean.
Arguello, who arrived at ýƵ in May 2023 in the newly created position, works to support sophomores and transfer students by connecting them with important resources throughout the year. He plays a vital role in retention efforts at ýƵ.
“I really wanted to work in a job where I could advocate for people and listen to them,” Arguello said earlier of his move to ýƵ. “As a first-gen student, I didn’t have a lot of additional guidance and had to spend a lot of time on my own getting answers. I wanted to help students and help them accomplish their goals.”
